Tony Lepper ONZM

Tony was elected to the board of the trust in the November 2019 triennial election. Tony and his wife Bernice live in Earnscleugh. Tony has been involved in horticulture in one form or another since he moved permanently to Central Otago in 1983. He is currently Managing Director of the Earnscleugh Irrigation Company. Tony holds a number of company directorships and is a government appointee to the New Zealand Conservation Authority. He is Deputy Chair of the locally based Space Science Technology Trust, who are the majority shareholder of Xerra a Research Institute that specialises in earth observation data.
Tony has had 27 years in local government including nine years as Deputy Mayor and six as Mayor of Central Otago. He has always been active in the local community, helping to set up Central Otago Wastebusters and the Central Otago Wilding Conifer Control Group.
Tony has always enjoyed the balance that sport and physical activity can bring to the lives of busy people. He is a past Chair of Sport Otago, the current Chair of Bowls New Zealand and helped organise the Central Otago Sports Awards. Tony enjoys mountain biking and hunting with his dog Rosie, believing there is nothing more satisfying than a day out in our stunning hills.
