Barbara Bridger
Chief Executive
Barbara joined Central Lakes Trust as Chief Executive in April 2023, bringing over 25 years of experience in accounting, healthcare administration, and philanthropy.
Prior to joining CLT, Barbara was the Chief Executive at Otago Community Trust for nine years. Before her time in philanthropy, she spent nearly two decades from 1996 to 2013 as the inaugural Practice Manager at Mornington Health Centre in Dunedin. During her tenure there, Barbara played an instrumental role in guiding one of New Zealand's largest medical centres through major healthcare reforms, which saw the establishment of the country's first stand-alone Primary Health Organisation.
Barbara began her career as an accountant after studying at the University of Otago. She went on to work in audit at EY in Wellington and then London before becoming a Vice President in investment management at Credit Suisse First Boston. In the mid-1990s, she returned with her husband to her hometown of Dunedin.
In her spare time, Barbara loves taking advantage of all the Central Otago region has to offer with her husband and three adult children, two of whom live locally. She enjoys entertaining, food and wine, golf, biking and walking the trails, and traveling, whenever possible, to visit her eldest daughter in Sydney.
Barbara feels privileged to assist community groups through her work in philanthropy. She is honoured to lead an organisation that enables the efforts of so many who make Central Otago a great place to live and work.
